Celebrating Women and Gender Diverse Artists at Our Music Festival

Aura Freedom was proud to serve as the Advocacy Sponsor of Our Music Festival, Toronto’s third annual celebration of women and gender-diverse artists.

While music has the power to inspire connection, creativity, and social change, women and gender-diverse artists continue to face significant barriers within the industry.

According to the Women Musicians Insight Report by the Musicians’ Union and Help Musicians, 87% of women report experiencing or witnessing discrimination while working in music, stressing the ongoing need to create safer, more equitable spaces where artists can thrive.

Bringing together an inspiring lineup of performers across genres, the festival celebrated powerful storytelling, community connection, empowerment, and the joy of live music.

Throughout the evening, Aura Freedom mobilized knowledge about gender based violence and amplified pathways to prevention and survivor support. By engaging attendees through conversations, resources, and education, Aura Freedom helped bridge the gap between awareness and action – ensuring that prevention, support, and survivor-centred responses remain part of broader community conversations.

We also danced the night away alongside community members rocking our Feminist AF merch and celebrating the power, creativity, and brilliance of women and gender-diverse artists! It truly was an energizing and inspiring evening filled with music, celebration, community care, and collective commitment to creating safer and more equitable spaces for women, girls, and gender-diverse people.

We extend our gratitude to Andrea Ramolo and the entire team behind Our Music Festival for creating such an inspiring and intentional space for artists and community alike. Creating spaces that bring together art, advocacy, and community connection is essential in shifting public understanding of gender-based violence.
